A little bit about me.

As a youngster I enjoyed sport and represented my school at rugby, football, athletics, hockey and cricket.

I took up cycling at at the age of 14 and at 15 years old gained 4th place at the Juvenile National 10 mile Time trial championships.  Breaking the 10 mile competition record with 20-56 and then winning the National 25 Championship aged 17 in 1976 were my  highlights as a junior.

On turning to road racing as a first year senior I soon gained my 1st Cat licence, and success in this discipline led to  international selection,  following a spell of racing for the Guidon club De St Cyprienne Blagnac whilst living in the Midi Pyrenees area of France.

More achievements at national level followed,  with a Bronze medal in the RTTC National 4 Up 100 km Team time trial champs held in Devon and a Silver medal in the RTTC 12 hour champs held in Wales.

A shot at distance running then followed with the opportunity to satisfy my competitive urge.  Despite having fewer hours available for training, my rewards were a 33-02 10k, a 72 minute half marathon and a 2-30 Marathon in Manchester.

Eventually,  combining cycling and running allowed me to compete at  European and World level in age group Duathlon.

Particular highlights were Several Golds at the Nationals followed by a Gold Medal at the European Championships in Budapest, Hungary and following that winning a Silver medal  at the World championships held near Charlotte, North Carolina USA.

Whilst training for Duathlons,  as fun preparation I rode a couple of road races and managed to win a British National road race age group title.
